About Me
Hello! I'm Luca-nu, a graphic designer with over a decade of experience in the creative world. I began my design journey at the Birmingham School of Art, and furthered my studies in Graphic Communication at Birmingham City University, finding a love for branding, layout, typography, and visual storytelling.
My career started in a corporate marketing role, from there I spent years working across various industries and building expertise in branding, print, and digital design. Four years ago, I transitioned to freelancing, allowing me the creative freedom to collaborate with brands in fashion, wellness, hospitality, and beyond.
I believe great design isn’t just about aesthetics; it’s about impact. Whether it’s boosting sales, building a brand identity, or making an audience feel something, I design with purpose.

Q&A WITH THE CREATOR ★
Something you wish more people knew about Design?
That it’s so much more than just ‘making things pretty.’ Good design has psychology, strategy, and purpose behind it; it shapes how people perceive a brand and interact with it.
Also, WHITE SPACE. It’s not just “empty space”, it’s a fundamental part of design. It creates balance, improves readability, and ensures that key elements don’t compete for attention.
A lot of people avoid white space because it feels unfinished or flat. And for brands that want a bold, chaotic, or high-energy look, breaking white space rules can be a creative choice. But for most brands aiming for a clean, modern, and professional feel, white space is essential.
In design school, one of the first exercises that stuck with me was painting a still life in reverse; only focusing on the white space around the object. It completely changed the way I saw design, making me realise that what you don’t fill is just as important as what you do.
Where do you find inspiration?
Everything in this crazy, beautiful world. Vintage magazines, architecture, street signs, book covers, album covers. My painting practice is also a huge source of inspiration for my design work. I love creating colour palettes on a canvas and then translating them into digital design, it’s one of my favourite ways to blend the physical and digital world.
I’m always hunting on Pinterest, Behance, and Insta, like most designers, but they can be a double-edged sword. It’s easy to get overwhelmed by an endless stream of ideas, so I try to step back and focus on my creative instincts rather than getting lost in the noise. Sometimes, the best inspiration comes from looking away from the screen and getting back into the real world.
Current favourite design trends?
At the moment, I’m loving the nostalgic rebellion. That perfect clash of Y2K meets grunge aesthetics, taking the bold, experimental energy of early 2000s internet culture and pushing it even further.
I’m really enjoying seeing brands and designers embrace messiness; blurry type, pixelated elements, distorted graphics, heavy layering, and textured collages that feel like they’ve been ripped straight from an underground zine. It’s raw, messy, and intentionally unpolished, which is such a refreshing shift from years of clean, hyper-minimalist design.
At the same time, I’ll always be drawn to mid-century design, postmodernism, and a clean monochrome aesthetic!
How do you approach branding for a new client?
It really depends on the client! Some prefer a more hands-off approach, so after an initial chat and a deep dive into their vision, I’ll take the reins by compiling a full brand proposal with different creative directions while they focus on running their business.
Then there are the naturally creative clients who want to be in the trenches with me, bouncing ideas back and forth. For them, I make the process more interactive; starting with a fun questionnaire, exploring colour palettes, typefaces, and references, and asking key questions to see what they’re instinctively drawn to. Sometimes projects turn into WhatsApp brainstorm sessions, where we’re firing ideas at each other and refining the vision in real time.
Since I work solo, I love being able to adapt my process to each client’s style; whether they want full creative freedom on my end or a more collaborative approach.
Favourite branding right now?
Good Girls Snacks: Good branding makes you want the product. Their entire identity is built around fun, playful marketing that makes spending $13 on pickles feel like the right decision. It’s proof that great storytelling can turn something as simple as a snack into a full-blown lifestyle purchase.
Glossier: The moment you see baby pink, you think Glossier, that’s how deeply their branding is ingrained in beauty culture. From the minimalist sans-serif logo to the iconic pink bubble pouches and clean, functional packaging, every detail feels like an experience.
Vacation: The king of brand storytelling. Every single thing they do feels like a retro dream; from the nostalgic packaging to the playful, borderline ridiculous product descriptions. They’ve built such a strong brand that every launch feels both unexpected and obvious at the same time.
Graza: I love seeing more creativity brought into the kitchen, and Graza absolutely nails it. With its fun squeeze-bottle design and bold, playful branding, it makes olive oil feel… exciting!? Honestly, I wish all my cupboard staples had this much personality.
Trip: Calming pastel gradients, clean typography, and a perfectly balanced minimal design that feels modern but not boring. The matte-finish cans, soft colour palette, and airy white space prove that good design can turn even CBD into luxury.
